Reiki practitioners work and live by these principles. They are intended to promote personal growth, mindfulness, and a sense of well-being.
- Just for today, I will not worry. Worry is toxic, most of what we worry about will never happen. This principle encourages to focus on the present moment.
- Just for today, I will not be angry. Anger has the same stress reactions within the body as worry, meaning anger activates the sympathetic nervous system and releases toxic chemicals. This principle encourages to let go of anger and negative emotions and thrive for emotional balance and inner peace.
- Just for today, I will be grateful. The universe has been shown to send more good fortune to those who express their gratefulness. Gratitude is a powerful tool for positive change in anyone’s life. This principle encourages to cultivate a sense of gratitude in their lives.
- Just for today, I will do my work honestly. It’s crucial that you are true to yourself. So often we try to satisfy other people in ways that don’t match our truth. Over time, this becomes intolerable and on an unconscious level it can lead to illness. Honestly, integrity, and generally ethical behavior are important for overall well-being.
- Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing. Each of us has a pure desire to contribute to the greatest good in life. There is a good feeling when we make a positive difference in some way. And this feeling is very connected to the activation of healing. If you are kind, the universe will shine kindness back to you. Compassion and kindness towards all living beings including yourself, promote a sense of empathy and oneness.
“Just for today, I will let go of anger. Just for today, I will let go of worry. Today, I will count my many blessings. Today, I will do my work honestly. Today, I will be kind to every living creature.”
